Neighborhood small library with staff representative of the community. Offers free lunch for youth during the summer, computer usage, and family friendly activities. Security guard sits at the entrance to the library, but it is safe and comfy. Ample free parking in Unity Plaza. I would recommend this library for those folks comfortable with the neighborhood.
This is a nice library in my opinion and they do have a good selection of dvds, though the book selection is getting smaller and smaller.
Wish they had more space it is too cramped for people at the computers so that you can't have 2 people looking at the same monitor (tried to help a friend learn something new there just wasn't room) Staff is Friendly & Helpful & they have a decent dvd selection considering how small the library is
So glad we have computers and internet in our home and now a Amazon firestick for movies and a Kindle with an Amazon subscription for free books, so I don't have to set foot in there again. I thought librarians had a lot of class but found some of them can be as petty and classless as any street thug. These Librarians took the cake for me. If they take a disliking to you for whatever their petty reasons they can become lowlifes with smiles on their faces and will persuade
other Librarians at other branches to do the same. I have never seen a more petty, ignorant people in my life. If I return a book or movie, I find myself being fine because it has suddenly disappeared. I reported this more than once and even though the movies were found in the their back room and one on their shelf, no matter how many times I complained about, it did not stop. If I came in to take out a book or send a fax, everyone would suddenly get too busy to wait on me. I had to go to the mayors office to put a temporary stop to it. Now I don't have to go there any more, so good riddance! Let me just say that Mr Anwar, the Muslim manager was very kind and had nothing to do with it. As for the rest of you, "vengeance is mine says the Lord and I will repay". That is my experience with the Barbour Street branch.
