I don't hate this place( which 1 star supposedly stands for) , but I'm shocked that longtime congregants of this church never knew that this was a leftist liberal church. And it took a hating Donald Trump pastors sermon ( Rev. Matthew Laneys) for some church members to wake up and realize this. UCC has always been a liberal church that promotes female pastors and gay marriage. They even have gay/lesbian pastors on collectable playing cards! And the United Church of Christ is becoming more liberal than ever. If your for the so called " progressive movement" then this is the church for you. But if you want to hold true to the real biblical scriptures that doesn't bend to society's present norms that are pro ( abortion, gay sex, no accountability) and fallows the actual word God instead of appeasing to what people want to hear that is socially and politically correct in our present day I recommend leaving the UCC and follow the Catholic, Lutheran( Wisconsin
I attended a concert Footsteps of Peace, sponsored by the church. Wonderful jazz, Gospel and classical music in tribute to Thurgood Marshall. High quality and engaging. I will be looking for future concerts.
What happened at AHCC should never have happened and those people that caused it: SHOULD BE ASHAMED! Its never okay to mess with someone lively hood. EVER. This church was my home. I will always love the place where I came as a child ( i am 16 right now) and learn about God and Jesus and further my Christian education through the Spirit Hill Church school when i was younger and then as I got older and more mature I was in the the middle school youth group and then went into the high school one when i went into high school. I grew to love kids through the church and wanted to work with them when I got older ( especially the ones who didn't want to go to church school or were shy and afraid, like I once was) . I only became a shepherd because one of my old shepherds inspire me at a young age that I could have kids looks up to me when I am at church. Reed Hollister was one of the people that helped me become a shepherd ( he sadly died in a car accident when I was really young but I still remember him letting me hold his hand while we walked up the stairs to our classroom together and I wanted to do the same for those who were afraid) This church basically shaped me in letting me become a Shepherd for the younger kids . Basically as a Shepherd I am responsible for a grade and lead them to their classrooms and then on to music ( as part of their education) . AHCC will always be important to me in my heart because that's the place that became my family for so many years.
